Find Cochran County Court Dates

To track down Cochran County court dates, start with the court named on your notice or citation, then confirm the setting with that court's clerk. A calendar can mean one day of hearings or the settings inside a single case docket, so the source matters. Cochran County court dates also shift after resets, continuances, and cancellations, so a fresh word from the clerk beats any old notice, property-record result, or unverified online entry. A statewide repository helps, too. It pulls from participating courts only, and it is no substitute for the local calendar.

Cochran County Court Calendars Explained

Cochran County posts no official daily or weekly judicial calendar. The County Judge page carries a "County Court Dockets" heading, but the table there is empty and has no date filters. The local district page lists personnel and rules rather than a steady public calendar. Justice Court gives office details and a citation-payment link, with no date lookup in view. Morton and Whiteface municipal courts publish no calendar either.

That gap leaves the clerk as the working source. District and county records route through Lisa Smith's clerk offices. Justice and municipal settings must be checked with the court that issued the citation or notice. Keep in mind that a calendar is not the full case file: it lists scheduled events, while the docket records a longer event history.

Note: The county commissioners' public meeting schedule is government business, not a judicial hearing calendar.

Where Cochran Hearing Dates Come From

Your first date often comes from a filed notice, citation, or scheduling order. Check it anyway. The District Clerk keeps the 286th District case record. The County Clerk handles the constitutional county docket along with probate routing. The countywide Justice Court and each municipal court in operation keep their own settings. No single office can confirm another court's calendar.

Whiteface's most recent official listing dates to 2023 and gives 806-287-1111. Whiteface is absent from the 2025 state directory. Callers should first ask whether the court remains active and where pending citations are now answered.

Finding Your Court Date

Start with the court name and cause number printed on a filed notice or citation. Then work every channel that fits. Cochran has no verified local online calendar. The statewide repository's public interface is not accessible. A phone call or counter visit is not just a backup here. It is the most direct official route.

  1. Copy the court name, cause number, case category, and date from the newest document.
  2. Call the responsible clerk and ask for the current date, time, setting type, judge, and location.
  3. For a 286th District case, ask whether the appearance is in Morton or Levelland and whether remote instructions exist.
  4. If useful, check re:SearchTX for participating-court data, but confirm any result locally.
  5. Visit the correct counter if phone confirmation is not enough: Room 102 for county or district records, or Room B-4 for Justice Court.
  6. Ask whether a current printed or date-range calendar is available and verify again near the appearance.

The OCA Citations and Notices system searches a narrower citation-and-notice collection, so it cannot stand in for a complete court calendar. The county's land-record portal has nothing to do with hearing dates.

Morton or Levelland Setting

The 286th Judicial District Court serves both Cochran and Hockley Counties. Its Cochran location is Suite 205 at 100 North Main Street in Morton. The local line is 806-266-5412. The main administrative office sits at 802 Houston Street, Suite 315, Levelland, reachable at 806-894-8240. Because administration is shared, a "Cochran County case" label alone does not tell you where to appear.

The shared 286th District Court page posts the cross-county court information used for location checks.

Cochran County court dates and 286th District locations

Before you travel, the notice, coordinator instruction, and latest clerk confirmation should all agree. Ask whether the event is in person, remote, or hybrid. Request the actual access instructions rather than assuming a past link still works.

How to Read a Court Setting

A setting is a scheduled event, not a result. Copy each field exactly. Small differences matter when a shared district uses more than one location or when two hearings fall on the same day.

DateThe scheduled calendar day, subject to later change.
TimeThe check-in or start time; ask whether early arrival is required.
CourtroomThe room, courthouse, or approved remote link.
JudgeThe judicial officer assigned for that event, if listed.
Setting typeDocket call, status, motion, arraignment, plea, pretrial, or trial.
StatusSet, reset, continued, cancelled, passed, held, submitted, or no appearance.

Do not read these terms as an outcome. "Held" means the event occurred, not that the case necessarily ended. "Submitted" can mean a matter awaits a ruling, and "no appearance" should be confirmed with the court, since consequences depend on the case and order.

Cochran Setting Types Defined

The label tells you what kind of event is planned. It does not replace the notice or legal advice about what must be prepared.

Docket call
An administrative call of cases scheduled for a court session.
Status conference
A check on progress, scheduling, or issues that remain before later proceedings.
Motion hearing
A hearing on a filed request; the docket entry alone does not reveal the ruling.
Arraignment
A criminal proceeding addressing the charge and plea or rights procedure.
Trial setting
A scheduled trial date, not proof that trial occurred or judgment followed.
Remote hearing
A proceeding held through court-approved technology under instructions that must be confirmed.

Check the posted time and ask one question first. Is it a group docket call, or a hearing set for you alone? The answer shapes check-in, how long you wait, and whether the trial date still stands.

Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations

A continuance postpones a proceeding through court action. A reset moves a setting to another date. A cancellation removes the listed event but does not necessarily dismiss the case. The court docket may show the old date, the new date, and a brief reason or order reference, so read all related entries in sequence.

If a setting moves, ask five direct questions. What is the new date and time? Is the location unchanged? Did the event type change? Must a new notice or order be issued, and are any filing or response deadlines still in force? Write down the name of the office and the time of confirmation for your own records.

Reset check: A new setting should be confirmed from the latest docket entry or clerk instruction, not inferred from the prior calendar.

Want a later court date? A continuance has to go through formal court procedure. A phone call to the Cochran County clerk asking about the date neither requests a postponement nor grants one.

No Cochran Calendar Export Found

Research did not locate a public Cochran calendar download, API, text-message subscription, alert system, or verified public courthouse terminal. The OCA Topics portal offers state rules, forms, notices, and related tools, but it is not a current Cochran hearing calendar. The Texas Judicial Branch FAQ also warns that there is no universal trial-court search portal.

The captured Texas Courts FAQ reflects the statewide routing context.

Missing an export does not make the Cochran County calendar private. It simply means a request goes to the court or clerk, in whatever lawful format that office can produce.

If You Miss a Court Setting

Call the court right away if you miss a Cochran County setting. Have the court name and your cause or citation number ready. Say which date you missed, and ask what the docket now shows. Nothing is automatic. Payment will not fix itself, and a new date will not appear on its own. The clerk can explain the court records and the process. Choosing a legal strategy is not the clerk's job.

Prompt action matters: Ask whether the judge entered an order, warrant, default, dismissal, failure-to-appear report, or new setting, and request current instructions from the issuing court.

An unresolved reported traffic citation has a statewide consequence. The Texas Department of Public Safety can receive failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay information from the reporting court. That entry is administrative. It is not a conviction, and it does not resolve the ticket. The court controls the case. DPS only runs the license side after the court reports it.

If the case number is unclear, start with the Cochran County case lookup process. Then confirm the details with the local office handling the matter.

Request a Cochran Date Calendar

Need several settings at once? Ask the clerk for a date-range calendar rather than a broad file search. Name the court, the dates, the case category, and the fields you want. You may get a public daily docket. A printed list, an electronic file, or an index with restricted matters left out may work too. Skip private names unless the office needs them to retrieve the record lawfully.

Texas Rule 15 counts a calendar and docket as forms of case record. It also separates remote access from a public-access terminal. Cochran County has no published terminal policy, so call before you visit. Does a terminal exist? Can documents be viewed there? Ask whether printing costs anything. For covered judicial administrative records, Texas Rule 12 opens a different door. It is not a stand-in for simply requesting a case calendar from the clerk.

Note: Confirm the court's current request method before sending sensitive identifiers by email or fax.
