Find Cochran County Traffic Tickets

Start a Cochran County traffic ticket lookup with the court named on your citation, because that office holds the record you need. Countywide justice cases and city citations run through separate courts, and no single local portal covers them both. The court file can show the charge, your plea, settings, the outcome, and amounts assessed, while the ticket itself explains how and when to respond. Keep the full citation number handy. Confirm the issuing court before you pay, contest, or ask about a statutory option, and if an online search comes up empty, check with the court that issued the ticket.

Cochran County Traffic Court Records

Cochran County traffic records stay with whichever court received the citation. A county-issued Class C or traffic matter starts at Cochran County Justice Court. A Morton city ticket belongs to Morton Municipal Court instead. Whiteface appeared in the last official 2023 listing. It is missing from the 2025 state directory. Confirm its current operation and routing by phone.

The clerk's case file may hold the citation or complaint, a plea, court settings, continuances, orders, the disposition, and assessed costs. That file is separate from land records and from the state's driver file. The issuing authority, city limits, court name, and citation number all matter. They route you better than the county name alone. A ticket does not go to Justice Court just because of where the stop occurred. The stop happening in Cochran County is not enough.

Which Cochran Court Issued It

Begin with the citation header and its response instructions. The countywide Justice Court sits in Room B-4 at 100 North Main Street in Morton, reachable at 806-266-5302 or CochranJP@co.cochran.tx.us. Morton Municipal Court is at 201 E Wilson, Morton, phone 806-266-8850. The last official Whiteface listing gave P.O. Box 248, Whiteface, and 806-287-1111. Call that number to learn whether the court is active and where a current citation gets answered.

Looking Up a Traffic Ticket

Cochran County offers no complete citation-number portal for tickets. The Justice Court page does include an "Online Payment of Citations" link. The county does not state where it leads. Morton and Whiteface publish no official search or payment portal. So the citation itself matters. Direct contact with the right court is the primary route. Never assume online payment is available or permitted for every charge.

  1. Copy the court name and complete citation number exactly as printed.
  2. Read the response instructions and note whether an appearance is required.
  3. Use the official court page or call the issuing court to confirm that the case has been received.
  4. If a state notice search is useful, check the cause number and court, then confirm any result with the local court.
  5. Ask for the court date, current status, available response methods, and any current copy fee.

Countywide JP visitors should go to Room B-4 at the counter. Call before you drive over. For Morton, use the municipal court address rather than the county clerk's Room 102. If your citation has not posted yet, ask when the issuing agency usually files it. Ask how the response deadline is handled. Never assume an extension.

Cochran Citation Search Limits

The OCA Citations and Notices search gives you free text, Name, Cause Number, Court/County, and Status fields. Results display Name, Cause Number, Court/County, and Status. An Action area may lead to a notice. Treat it as a limited citation and notice tool. It is not a complete Cochran County traffic docket. A missing result does not mean the ticket is paid, dismissed, or clear.

The Cochran official-records search is no substitute for a docket search. It indexes property documents. re:SearchTX may carry records from integrated courts, though the county does not confirm current public Cochran coverage. eFileTexas handles filings, not traffic-ticket lookups.

How to Find Your Traffic Court Date

Your citation, or a later court notice, is the first place to find a date. Confirm with the issuing court before you travel. A reset or continuance can move a setting. Cochran County publishes no public daily or weekly judicial calendar. The county's Commissioners Court meeting notice is not a Justice Court calendar. It is not a municipal traffic calendar either.

Citation numberThe exact identifier from the ticket; no standard Cochran format was verified.
Issuing courtJustice Court, Morton Municipal Court, or the verified current Whiteface route.
Date and timeThe appearance or hearing setting confirmed by the clerk.
LocationThe court address or approved remote method stated by the court.
Setting typeAppearance, plea, pretrial, trial, or another label used by the court.
StatusPending, reset, disposed, or another court-entered status.

A continuance or reset reschedules your case; it does not dismiss the citation. Ask who authorized the change. Request the new setting in writing when possible. If a date looks wrong, call the court named on the ticket. For broader scheduling steps, see the Cochran County court dates resource.

Cochran Justice Court Contact

For a county-issued Cochran County traffic ticket, the countywide Justice Court is the most direct route. The official county page lists its hours. They run Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Ask a few things before you rely on it. Is a personal appearance required? Has the citation posted, and does online payment apply to that case? Treat the page's link as a starting route, not a promise of eligibility.

Have the citation number, court name, issued date, and your specific request ready before you call. Ask for docket status or a copy quote, not advice on which plea to enter.

Pay or Contest a Ticket

A citation presents choices governed by the ticket, Texas law, and the issuing court. Contact the court before you act. Ask whether payment records a plea or conviction. Ask how to submit a not-guilty plea, and whether appearance is mandatory. Also confirm which deadline applies. No single Cochran-specific deadline or fine fits every ticket. The same goes for card charges, installment plans, and same-day processing promises.

Paying or resolvingContesting
Confirm how payment affects the plea and disposition.Ask how to enter a not-guilty plea and obtain a setting.
Use only a court-approved channel for the named citation.File with the issuing court, not a different county office.
Keep the receipt and confirm the court's closed status.Keep written notice of the hearing and any later reset.
Ask if an appearance is still required.Do not miss the response date while waiting for online data.

Chapter 45 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure governs justice and municipal cases and includes deferred disposition and driving-safety-course provisions. Eligibility, fees, proof, deadlines, and conditions depend on the court and the citation. Ask about an option without assuming it applies or guarantees dismissal.

Missed appearance or payment: Texas DPS says a reported failure may block driver-license renewal. Contact each reporting court to learn what must be done; DPS cannot resolve the court case.

Cochran Ticket Clearance Timing

Texas runs a program that pushes drivers back to the court where the trouble started. The Texas DPS Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay program sends you to that reporting court. There you can handle fines, costs, appearances, trial requests, or a payment plan. One hold may involve several courts. If more than one reported you, call each one. Also, a denied renewal is not a conviction. Never treat it or label it as one.

Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record

Two offices, two files. The court that issued the citation keeps the case record itself. Texas DPS, meanwhile, keeps the driver record and runs the failure-to-renew program. Ask the court about the plea, the settings, the judgment, or the balance owed. DPS cannot touch the court case. A clean notice search tells you nothing about what the driver file holds.

The court file is the focus here. The driver record comes up only to show where the line between the two custodians sits.

Cochran Traffic Activity Context

Cochran County's justice courts stayed busy in FY 2024. The OCA report for that year shows 220 new criminal cases added. It shows 223 disposed, leaving 465 pending at the close. Another 36 matters were reactivated, and 28 went inactive. Read those as court activity counts. They are not head counts or convictions, and not a traffic-only tally either. The report never breaks out each traffic, ordinance, and other Class C filing.

220added
223disposed
465active pending at year end

Morton's municipal row showed zero across the criminal columns, with five civil or administrative matters active at the start and still active at the end. Whiteface had no numbers in that table at all. Neither blank proves a city wrote no citations or had no municipal court case.

Copies and Fees

Ask the issuing court directly for its current copy schedule for a traffic file. No published Morton or Whiteface municipal copy price exists to rely on. A statewide Justice Court cost table does set some figures. It lists $2 for the first page of a certified copy, 25 cents for each added page, and a $10 transcript item. Confirm with the Cochran office that the current table applies. Ask about delivery options before you order.

ItemPublished referenceWhat to confirm
Justice certified copy$2 first page, $0.25 each added pageCurrent local use and number of certified documents
Justice transcript item$10 statewide referenceWhat record the item covers
Municipal case copyNo local amount verifiedCurrent page, search, certification, and delivery charge

Be specific when you call. Give the citation number and say whether you want a plain copy, a certified disposition, or the full public docket. A portal receipt proves you paid, but it is not automatically a certified court record.

Whiteface Traffic Status Check

Whiteface Municipal Court appeared in the 2023 official directory, yet the city was gone from the 2025 edition. Call 806-287-1111 and confirm the court is still active, learn where a current citation gets answered, and check whether its clerk, mailing address, or payment route has changed. For a countywide matter, use Cochran County Justice Court.
